Is the Garrett ProPointer submersible?

There's a creek running through a national park here and the ranger once saw me with my metal detector and I was advised that I cannot use that there. I am keen to get underwater with something as discreet as the garrett propointer and see if I can find any rings :) i know i know I'm naughty.... but it would be interesting to just swim around the bottom of this shallow creek waving the garrett propointer around

If I taped up the speaker hole i wonder if the propointer would go ok under about a meter of water....

bye

I held mine totally under water about a foot deep with my finger over the speaker hole in creeks looking for nuggies. I think some duct tape would do well for that. Give it a shot!

snoop,

yes you are a naughty boy !
I got mine really wet one very rainy day and the speaker went quiet until it dried out, now its not as loud but that is a good thing i reckon.
I would also tape up around the battery compartment and /or put it in a plastic bag.

:usaflag:I've only (kind of) submersed mine to clean it. If you are going to use it that way I would also suggest not using the on/off button underwater. Duct tape works good on the speaker, I keep a piece on mine just to keep the dirt out, and I can still hear it fine.

Hey T59

You sir are a GENIUS! :clapping: Of course! Put it in one of those zip lock bags! That way it works perfectly and stays completely dry!

Your on dangerous ground! If you feel you must
then put some electrical tape over the speaker and probably over
the on and off button. I'd not want to submerge it too often as
even the tape will eventually leak.

Put it in a water tight Ziploc bag and depend on the vibration to alert you to a find. That should solve the problem.

You could also vacuum seal it with one of those nifty freezer preparation thingys. It'd stay dry then. martin

A ziplock bag it shall be then. Vibration will work well but the sound should travel very well underwater. As soon as it warms up a bit - off to the creek I go! :wiggle:

Genius ? ...me ??? ha ha ha
you crack me up Snoop dog
thats a good one
