I wold like to know if the Explorer SE is able to gold nugget detecting. Maybe some of you know or had the experience. so plase let me know. I own my Explorer SE and I test it on the beach and sopriced me with 1180 Euros in a few nights, now I'm goim back to my country nex to the mountains and I think is a good chance to go and try. Thanks

The Explorer is NOT and effective nugget machine. Its just not sensitive enough... try a Gold Bug with its 72 kHz freq. First off you will notice a lot of hot rocks where gold is found coming in around 00 31. I have hunted in several places with people using gold machines. If you get a test target (small piece of gold on a plastic card) from a dealer like DOC's in Las Vegas you will notice you may be able to pick it up barely. But i can tell you unless its a sizeable nugget its more likely you will just walk over the smaller nuggets because you not used to looking for those slight responses.

I tried it out in the goldfields and it was shocking, then I get home and find out it's not working properly.

One thing I can tell you; the problem is is that it's constantly tracking. The SE is already not that sensitive as is, so that will cost problems. You want to pick up nuggets bellow .5 grams. Also, download http://minelab.com/consumer/page.php?section=349 and you will learn a few things or too, even though it's a bit technical.
