Is the Excalibur too heavy for a lady?

deepsouthdigger

New member
Hello, I was wanting an Excalibur for Christmas/ Birthday gift.
Is this going to be too much for a 5'-9" lady to swing. I have had a couple of detectors
but it is around 5 lbs. Seems like a lot to swing. Any help?
Thank you, Mary

If you hip mount it and it's the 800 Excal II, she should be able to handle it. the 1000 would be a bit much. Gene

I've been swinging an Excal 1000 (hip mounted) for 3 years and it has NEVER felt too heavy or cumbersome. I'm a 5'6" woman and don't have much upper body strength, and I still LOVE swinging the Excal and highly recommend getting one. Hip mounting the Excal is the key here. Go for it--you won't regret it!

yes the EXCALL II 1000 maybe a tad much for you but your 5'9 hmmmmm, i would search around your area and even if just see one to put in your arms and decide for yourself but i can tell you ................ITS A MEAN MACHINE ! just ask Gene LOL

Probably the digging will tire you out more, put it on a straight shaft rather than the S rubish, being balanced makes it a lot easier on the forarm and hence feels lighter

I hip mounted mine to reduce the drag on my swinging arm and that works pretty well. You could also chest hount it or try a straight shaft (to counterbalance it). Personallay now that I have hip mounted it I dont think I can go back. I'm spoiled! The way I did it came to me after I got a new finds pouch that is sold here through Joe Demarcos website. http://demarcodetectorsales.com/html/misc%20accessories/Pouches.html . It came with a really nice cordura strap that was pretty wide. I realized if I was going to wear the bag around my waist I might as well wear the weight of my detector there as well....so a quick trip to the hardware store for some PVC pipe and some nylon bolts and Voila! 4 hr hunt...no problem.

Check out BootyBay, Rae, on Surfdiggers Video at 50 seconds into the vid. . She is swinging a 10, I would recommend the 8 inch Excal II ,...get the lighting rod and pouch for your treasures from Joe Demarcos, and if the Pod is to much, just do like Dig suggested..seen his setup when I was in Florida...Very Nice.

Good Luck...Joe

Good day.
1) I advise ladies to wear on a belt system unit.
2) it is desirable ergenomic handle.
3) lightweight scoop made of stainless steel my performance "5granik" or "evroexcavator", weighing 0,85-0.91 kg
And, of course, good luck .... :)
