Is the E-Trac 50% better than the Safari?

I'm planning to get another detector that can handle black wet sand at the beach, and have been looking at the E-Trac and the Safari. The many settings on the E-Trac seem a bit intimidating, especially compared to the simple interface of the new Safari. Looking at the E-Trac vs. Safari, they use the same coil, the same FSB 1.5 - 100 khz, and the same battery system (but I was disappointed to see that the Safari does not have back lighting like the E-Trac). Guess my question really is when it comes down to the finds, will the E-Trac get a lot more than the Safari? One other thing... there a large number of new E-Trac users posting on the forums, but no Safari users? Are people not buying the Safari, and if not, why?

Thanks - any input is appreciated.

The Etrac will do anything the Safari will do + much more!! It can be as complicated as you wish or you can use presets and go.. I would say its worth the extra money to have more options on set up!! You'll always wonder if you shoulda bought the Etrac instead if you buy the lesser of the two????

I just purchased an E-Trac but have not had an opportunity to try it out ( hopefully tomorrow). In my research of what to buy I discovered (from Minelab) the Safari is a simplified Explorer not a simplified E-Trac. I'm not familiar with the real difference between the E-Trac and Explorer - so take it from there.
