Is the CZ 20 worth the $$$ over the 1280X ?

Just can't decide Cz 1280X or cz 20 if I go with a underwater unit. It really would be used just for waters edge most of the time.Could someone tell me why or if the cz 20 is worth the extra $$$? If I decide on a land unit is the cz 70 a good unit? Surf is never high here in Maine. Was also thinking about the cz 70. Help me decide what one to get. My thinking out loud, it would be nice to take in into the water no more then 8 to 10 feet down, and I know I can't do that with a cz 70 but I'm not a water person so in reality I don't think i will be taking it under water. 99% of the time would be spent on shaw maybe in a light rain. What would be a better unit for finding jewelry rigs and coins? Ease of use is key as this is for the wife. All opinions welcome so keep then coming it will help me decide.I would like Fisher do to the warranty. I'll post what I decide on. Thanks! George

get the CZ70 for the dry and the water edge... it'll do really well, plus you can use it on land. The 1280 is too heavy to use as a land machine. The CZ20 has pinpoint which is nice. Anyhow, I'd buy the CZ70 which is a good allaround machine, and if you need a water machine, look for a good used unit of any brand... used 1280s can be had in nice shape for $325-375. But I'd wait on that and see if the CZ70 doesn't really do all you need first.

Really, the best way to have a water machine is to borrow one from a friend who has one for the odd times you need it!

The CZ20 is much better in salt water. The 1280X is excellent for fresh water.

The land machines have more visual aids, most water machines are by sound only. The CZ has blinky lights but of dubious value.

The water machines are heavier but you can waist or chest mount the CZ20 control box. When you do that, it is actually lighter than most quality detectors.

I am not trying to compare the various models ability to detect. Too much personal subjective opinion there. Besides, I really do not know. just giving you some food for thought. Your wants and budget will have to make the final decision.

I bought my first detector last year, Whites MXT, and just got a CZ20 this summer. I just figured out how to use it. Now have to learn how to really find the good stuff.

The CZ20's silent search and ability to (quietly) reject iron has really impressed me.

When I searched a fresh water beach with the CZ and then followed up with the MXT, all I found was the bottle covers that the CZ ignored. When I did the MXT first, I did not find anything more with the CZ but I had already dug the steel bottle caps with the MXT.
