Is the 5" Excelerator coil a "keeper"?

Hi,
I had the same question -- I ended up with the NuggetBusters (made by Gray Ghost) - basically the same headset, but the Gray Ghost is a bit heavier and has the noise limiter built in). I found the sound quality on the both to be about equal, I chose the Busters because they were lighter and for me hunting in parks and in the hot Sacramento, CA weather, they fit my needs best. Good luck.

When I bought my Explorer they also sold me the 5" coil for the "special" price of $29.95 . As far as the quality of the craftsmanship goes.....I got what I paid for. They appear to be made cheap, fast and, in China? They have the word -nugget- printed on them but the manufacturer mis-spelled the word and printed the word -nudget-. Gold nudgets ??? Fools gold??? Electrically speaking though, it seems to work ok. Talk about easy pinpointing. Also, they are a DD configuration. I would say it all depends on what you have to pay for them. Hope this helps! I have the Excelerator 5". It does quite well in trashy areas you can get between alot of junk. Comparing it to the other Minelab coils 8" and 10.5 it is as stable as they are..
