I own a Detectorpro wader and use for beach and surf plus all around detector . Would the Garrett Infinium be a lot better ,would it go alot deeper [wader go maybe 5-6 inches],and the wader is lite ,how is the wt.on the infinium. Also how hard is the infinium to use the wader is turn and detect. I can buy a 1yr. old like new infinium for$500 with under water headphones .my other option is a Whites beach hunter ID used 3x"s with a probe for $500.Thanks for your input.

There are only 2 things I would suggest if you get an Infinium. At some point, you will want an after market straight shaft to make the entire set up better balanced, hence making it easier to swing and lighter feeling.

Next would be to get the 10x 14 mono coil for it if you will be using it on salt water beaches. I have used the stock DD and sold it and strictly use the 10x14 mono on mine...but that is for ME and the beach conditions I hunt in. Your conditions and likes/dislikes may be completely different. I just did not like the stock DD coil at all. The 8 inch mono coil is a very good coil too.

If you learn how to tune the unit for your conditions, it's an outstanding beach unit. The problem most hunters have starting out with this unit, is that they treat it like other beach PI units. It is a GOLD hunting machine first and foremost, so it is much more sensitive to salt water conductivity. You have to learn to ground balance it, get the correct operating frequency to eliminate potential sources of EMI that may affect the unit, and most importantly, set the discrimination setting to where the affects of salt water are minimal. You CAN run the unit hot and on the verge of instability, but only after you learn the machine. The 2 tone ID on the machine is a very good feature, and can be used to your advantage once you become familiar with how it works. It also helps with identifying potential false signals. I have found that repeatable hi/lo or lo/hi signals that repeat while swinging from different angles are always targets. When these signals disappear, or are very faint from one angle and do not hit from others, most of the time they are false signals.

It is a slow sweep unit, so you can't go cruising the wet sand with it like the BHID. But faster sweep units do have their advantages when targets are sparse and you want to cover a lot of ground. The Infinium is not one of those machines when beach hunting.

I have had great results with mine and won't ever sell it.

Just remember, it is a PI machine, and will find all metal, and iron will sound good most times. You will dig much more junk with it than the Wader or BHID, but it will find deep gold where those other machines will not even come close to finding it. You just have to start slow with this unit until you become familiar with how it works.

Fresh or salt water? Makes a lot of difference. Wouldn't try one in fresh water. Unless the discriminate mode is better than I think,
