went to one of my favorite sites to find 5 holes that at first looked to be gofer holes ,until i seen the nails tabs and various crap lying at each hole along with the dirt and grass from each hole, this isn't the first time ive spent time filling in someones holes because there not smart enough to do it there self if i ever catch the guy doings this i don't think im going to be able to hold my temper im just hoping that its some kid with his new birthday present ,but sadly i think its this guy i seen while detecting here the last time i was here he always slows and stares for a few, then speeds off ive also ran into him while detecting before he always try's to runn me off saying this spot is claimed ,lets just say we've had words and almost each time ive seen him wile swinging i go back to a trashed park school ect....
thanx for listening to me rant

It's a pet peeve of everyone that really cares for our hobby!

I hate it when I stop by the beach in the early morning and see acres of trash left by beach goers the day before.

The world seems filled with inconsiderate fools and they're lucky I don't rule the world, because they would be force fed everything they tossed so casually aside!

GL&HH Friend,

CJ

I'm with you about blowing a temper. I don't have the time, or the patience for idiots like that.

no plugs it literally looks like a gopher hole with a big pile of dirt and now dead grass along with the trash they dug about6 inches deep & 6 inches wide like they didn't even try

Inconsiderate person by the sounds of it. Talking to them is like talking to a wall.
I.d keep telling him about the consequences of his action and this could get detectorist banned from these sites.
You could always detect close to him and the use of your machine will drive his crazy:devil:

i had a similar problem with a guy in my area and was given this option to take care of this guy. If you have your camera handy, take a picture of him and his car and tell him that you are going to report him.You could also post his picture on here.Kinda like a hall of shame picture.

Been there and done that. If he says it is claimed tell him to buzz off and you're going to report him for destroying public property. I hate turds like that. They're just too lazy to fill their holes and have no respect for anything.

Bill

I'm only kidding when I say this, but throw about 20000 brass BB's in the grass for him to find and find a new place to hunt.

Seriously, I like the "hall of shame" photo idea Thsfunday suggested. Take some pictures and report the clown or at least tell him you will report him if he makes another mess.

I have been detecting on and off now for quite a few years , from age 14 to my 40's :confused:current (old ?) well maybe on my way getting there!.
[sub][sup]

in that time i have on a few occasions seen holes dug by other detector users that can only be described as pit holes , i mean men could actually be working down these deep pits in the ground!

Joking aside , the people who do it are mostly kids or more often adults with brains as big as peas. Idle glass backs who are too lazy to re fill and re fix hole.

Gives us all a bad name and looses us good sites. Be very careful you don't get blamed for other peoples mess, for the other detector guys "deep wide pits" that you sometimes see, i hate the bastards who make a mess too.

Trying to appeal to his civic pride or his sense of responsibility of pointless because he doesn't have either. The camera sounds like a good idea...phone camera is ideal. Letting some authority know that it's not you who is making this mess is also a good idea, then the local park attendants/rangers/police/whatever will know that it is a specific guy, and not detectorists in general.

im liking the camera idea ill be keeping mine in the glovebox from now on and as for Hart-IN's idea of the bb's im seriously considering it

A video would be great. I've got a palm-sized video but I can't ever remember to take it. Going to have to sweep the cobwebs out of my head.

Bill

Yeah the BB brains that tear me up are the ones waltzing into a park or school packing a full-sized shovel. These dildo brained idiots have the IQ of an amoeba and shouldn't be allowed to own a detector.

Bill

Yeah take a bunch of pics of this guy when he ain't looking, make copies on a copy machine, and post them all over on telephone poles, trees, bulletin boards in nearby stores, or whatever. Make this guy real popular and that ought to screw with his scrambled brains. HAA.

Bill

Down here in Florida I have come across areas where the Indian artifact hunters have dug holes...no...PITS!...TRENCHES!...TIGER TRAPS!...at least 6 feet deep and leave them open. I mean to tell you it looks like a war zone bomb drop site! It looks like a backhoe was throughout the woods trenching!

This is why we have so many problems in this day and age with areas being closed down and reputations of hobbyist's being ruined. It is not only the metal detectorists but the artifact hunters, mineral and gem hunters, beach combers, and even plant enthusiasts who who pay the penalty for the irresponsible individuals who do not clean up after themselves.

I had an environmental cop who used to when he found an illegal deer stand from a poacher or other illegal situation thumb tack a small business card (computer generated of course) and his personal business card that would read..."You are being watched by the Sheriffs department. You are in violation of "such and such" statute. If further information is needed please call this number and leave a message and I will get back with you". Maybe if you post a few of these around the site in the trees and such he might just get the hint and leave!

Let me tell you I know it works as I have seen certain deer stands disappear over night!
