Is My Pro Pointer Defective

5900_XL-1

Well-known member
My new Garretts Pro Pointer sometimes begins to slowly beep for no reason, in non-target areas, and then increase, until I recycle power. Is this a defect? It happens when in the holster, or just laying in a remote area away from my target area. I considered the battery, but that wasn't it. Thanks, martin

Mine does this too. Remember, it does automatically ground balance, and I would expect it to drift a little. I do not leave mine turned on. Once you get used to the switch, you can hold it enough to keep it on, yet it will go off without pushing the button again.

Thanks! Sure is a neat tool. I know I am finding targets not that I would have missed before this pointer. Be it my old eyes, the anxiety of finding the treasure, or the fact some of it is so tiny that it's a killer to put in the time and energy to grab the MD again. I have found some incredibly minute wire strands, and with the color blending these targets do with the soil(coins included), I'd have missed those and been tired out for nothing.

I love this pointer. martin

Thats very odd. I have never experienced that with my pro pointer. It never drifts.
If I happen to leave it on it stays on until I shut it off. Usually, once I pinpoint the
target I turn it off anyway just to save on battery power. I do the same with the Ace as well. Once I start to dig the target I shut it
off until I'm ready to swing again.
