Is my new ATpro supposed to do this?

I took my ATpro out for the first time last weekend just for a little bit. Noticed that some of the numbers did not fully show up. Finally was able to get out for about three hours this afternoon. Anytime a number in the 30's came up, I would only get a partial number. Sometimes in the twenty's as well. Many times I would get a target that bell toned, but the Id would be in the 30' with the three broken up. Is this normal operation, or do I have a defective machine? I could not find anything in the manual about what the display should look like.

Looks like that section of pixels is not illuminating.
I think it will have to go back to Garrett.
Should not be doing that...

Try new batteries. I got bad batteries with mine. If that doesn't do it, Call Garrett and get a RMA number and send it in. Make sure you have registered it first.

My AT Pro does the same thing sometimes. New batteries don't help. It acts up randomly. The important part is that the performance of the detector is not affected at all. I have learned to just deal with it for now. No way am I sending this detector away this time of year. Sorry to hear you have the same problem. Maybe others do too? GL to everyone and HH. Matt

Sorry to say, my AT Pro is having a display issue, too. Maybe one hunt after it came back from Garrett (for a separate issue), it now has two spidery scribbles on the display. Doesn't seem to affect performance, and it's my backup detector, so I'll send it in when I get around to it. Sounds like you'll have to do the same. At least Garrett is very prompt - last time I sent it in, I had it back in 7 days (I'm next to Texas in NM). Give 'em a call and they'll get you fixed up!

I had a target ID detector of another brand do the same thing with the display. The machine was out of warranty and the repair cost was far too much. I ended up selling it for parts.
However I'm sure Garrett will take care of this problem even if the warranty expired.

I didn't have that problem but had a nother and garrett told me that i would get my Pro back in 10 days and i am in New England

Try new batteries and a master reset. To master reset the AT-Pro....with it turned Off...press and hold the On buttun until it beeps twice. If that does not fix it, contact Garrett...they will fix it quickly, Great Service!

Garrett has a ten day repair and return policy. In repaired and out within ten days. Make sure it is registered, and when you are ready to get it repaired call Garrett. Just don't send it when it will be there for a long weekend holiday. It will take a little longer to get back. Ask them not to use FedEx, I have had so much trouble with them. They leave the machine in my apartment office and don't let me know. I have also had them leave it on the doorstep. If it had been stolen they wouldn't have paid for it, it had been delivered.
