Is it worth the money?

I am a newbie to detecting and I am looking at buying a White Classic 5 ID unmodified. Just went out of warranty, but was sent to White's for a tuneup right before it expired. The shop wants $300.00 for it and I can't decide if it's a good buy or not. I thought I'd ask the more experienced people their opinion and see. Is it a good deal?

If you are patient enough to find one in the classifieds on the forums. The IDX Pro uses the 6.59 Khz Blue Max coils which are more available on the used market and the best coil for it is the 6

you have a real need for it. I had one to evaluate when Kellyco got them and it worked okay. It came with the 8" coil but most later came with the 9050. the 950, in my opinion, is just too big for most average coin hunting activities. Did the Classic 5-ID work OK for me? Yes, in general it did, and it was simply a Classic ID that had some "front-end" electronics changes so that it operated with the Prizm series search coils.

As Hombre stated, the Classic 5-ID uses the Prizm coils and operates at about 8.1 kHz, and I found the 6.59 kHz Classic models to be superior. How? Well, they have the round 6
