Is It Wishful Thinking?

Hi Everyone

With two companies launching their own "SMF" machines this month, is it wishful thinking to hope that Minelab might bring out an update for the Equinox series? I'd personally like to see the 4KHZ frequency added into the 'multi' setting, I'll be intrigued to see if either of the new machines outperform the Equinox or at most match it.

What do you guys think?

I am of the opinion that Minelab is done doing updates on the Equinox. I think we will see a machine that will replace the CTX before you see another update. That's based on wishful thinking and nothing more :)

I do not know if they will offer any more updates or not, but adding the 4khz to the multi frequency mode sounds like a good idea.
Personally I feel that the new Detectors you mentioned have a tall order to fill in matching the Equinox.
Mine continues to impress me after 2 years of using it…I have zero complaints about it other than the leaking issues.

Same here I have gone over spots I’ve detected with other machines and really found a lot more silver it never fails me I would not mind having a different backup detector so I’ll wait and see how these two detectors are…
The Deus will probably be more money than the original my guess so I’ll probably pass on that one.
Deus needs to bring down the price and make it waterproof!

Yup I totally agree with you, I love my 800 so much, it has lots of little idiosyncratic features you need to learn, especially on deep targets nearing the edge of detection, I didn't get introduced to the Equinox through the marketing hype, I came back into the pass time after a 30 year hiatus. I'd never heard of minelab and had no concept of "SMF". I have no doubt these new machines will be quality but it's going to take a lot to stop me swinging my 800.

I did not get wrapped up in the hype either when they first came out.
I held off and when I started seeing them sold, I lost interest in them altogether until about a year later when I saw another forum member I know getting amazing results with his.
He was as amazed as I was at what he was finding behind other detectors he had used at the same sites.
I finally got one after many conversations with him, and have not regretted my decision at all.
I have found more silver coins with the Equinox than any other detector I have ever used including the Sovereign which is a great detector itself!!

Tall order indeed. At the least I'm pretty sure the Nokta will be more solidly constructed (with a slight cost in weight perhaps). It will probably offer an alternative power source and/or a removable battery. Competition is always good.
