Is it safe to use my CZ7a in the rain?

I just wanted to know if my Fisher CZ7a will be safe to use in the rain?, I know the control box is waterproof but I'm worried because of the holes where the speaker is on the top/front of the control box, surly any rain water will be able to get into these holes/slots, this wouldn't be good for the machine would it?.

So I guess I would need a rain cover to be safe, shame they don't make one to fit!. I guess I could use plastic bags for now until I find something more suitable if needed.

Thanks for advice, information or comments.

Look on Fleabay there's a guy that makes them for the CZ'S they look like the cats meow and come in a variety of colors!

You could get hit by lightning!
Short of that your detector should be fine.

Seriously guys? You don't need a wrapper for safe detecting.
The CZ7a Pro (unchanged in this regard) manual says,
"Splashproof, Rainproof, Dustproof: The control
housing is sealed and the battery compartments
have their own gaskets. The search coil is
submersible. The cable connector and
headphone jack (when the phone plug is
inserted) are splashproof. The CZ-7a Pro is not
submersible, but rain and dust are no problem,
and the speaker is splashproof."

I would use some form of cover according to what I have read that Fisher no longer has many of the parts for the digital CZ'S so I always try playing it safe I'd hate to know that I ruined my detector when I thought it was water proof and it wasn't. Just Saying!

It definitely isn't worth finding out how "rainproof" the CZ is when you can spend less than $15 to be 100% safe and worry free by using the housing rain cover.

I was always told "splashproof"...yes. Rainproof?...why find out.

CZs are the bomb. I love hunting with my CZ-5, I would never use it uncovered in the rain. But why have a digital CZ over an analog if not for the 'splashproof' benefit? Yeah the 7a goes 90 hours on a load of AAs (I'd love that!) and the face has a light... Oh, heck. Whatever! I guess I am just a live on the edge kind of guy!
