That if I dig more pull tabs than coins, the last guy was not looking for jewelry? Does that mean I am not discriminating properly? I dig anything nickle and above that gives a good signal and is in the B range. Need to know if I am pulling rookie mistakes because I have yet to find gold rings but I am still new to the 2500, (three good hunts). I usually end up with a fair amount nickles, anyway here is what I found yesterday.
Looks alot like GRAWS loot huh?

and if there is gold there he walked over it. It depends though on what part of the country you live in but some have more jewelery than others. You should be well on your way to finding some real gold. If you discriminate the items where gold falls, you discriminate out the gold.

Rob I too have the same thing going with me. I dig everything nickle and above and ,my junk pile is the same also as yours . I used the ace 250 and still no gold rings but it will happen. I once pick up moving object very very deep. I knew I couldn't dig that deep so I took a G. S. P. reading and went home looked on google maps and on the other side of the world there was a soccer game was going on . so now I turn down the sen. I Love this Mach.:rofl: Later Graw :yo:

You will get more keepers, then someone who neglects to dig those pull tabs. After a while you will learn a difference in sound between putt tabs and rings. :)

If you are digging nickels and pull tabs then it is a matter of time before you hit the gold. That is a good sign someone has discriminated them out. Keep swinging.

This year I am going to dig alot more targets where i hunted already. I am new and I have read alot of post so I am setting my discrimination on Jewelry and digging all of my signals. I know this will probably be alot of digging but, it may pay off. I just have a busy summer coming.

I think there is a lot more ladies rings lost than mens. But to find the ladies rings your discriminator has to be set a lot lower than nickles, like just above iron. Those small gold rings disc. out real easy.

I had a stretch this summer where I found gold rings three days in a row. The sites were parks and schools. That was in the middle of a 2 week period where I found either silver or gold jewelry every time out. I thought I had the hobby completely figured out and that all I had to do was go out to a suitable site, dig a few signals, and return home with my jewelry. I then had about a 6 week drought with no gold or silver of any kind. I went out more and more hours hoping to break my unlucky streak and still found nothing. The clad added up thankfully. Then one day in October I found my first silver dime. EVER! A few days later my first merc. The day after that another merc. The silver jewelry came back too. Just when I was sure I would never find another gold ring and then bam a 22k beauty close to the end of my season.

You are digging a lot of signals. One of these times when you are kneeling to dig what you're sure is the 10,000th pull tab of the year and you will get that gold ring. A warning though. You will go and hunt a lot more after that first ring.

I pretty much do the same thing (dig everything Nickel and above) Sunday I hit 8 charms (1 gold), 3 rings (all junkers but a ring is a ring...) 2 earrings (one white gold), 1 bracelet, plus 7 nickels. I did get a fair amount of foil, but if I would have notched out nickel and below, I would not have found most of those items! Like a couple of the other guys said, I think it is just a matter of walking over the gold. It will come.
