Found what appears to be a continental dollar. Many varities were made. The word currency was spelled with 1 and 2 r's. This has one r.
The origional coins were stuck in silver, pewter and brass. The coloring suggests it is silver or pewter. I actually tried to bend the coin (I would have stopped if it did bend) but it did not bend. I assume it is not pewter because I think it is softer than silver.
My red book guide (1980) lists the pewter version as $950 in good condition but no price for the silver or brass????Why???
The book also says that copies made of various metals for the 1876 centennial exposition and hubbed??? copy dies circa 1961.
Do I have an origional or a copy. The front is in very good condition but the back is barely readable. I can just make out the "we are one" in the center.
Origional or copy, what condition would this coin be considered? AND--Could it just be a fake??

Where to start, Think it's about time to get a newer Redbook, Redbook (2004) "Numerous copies and replicas of these coins have been made over the years. Authentication is recommended for all pieces."
Curency Pewter(2 varieties). $1,650 Good, Fine $4,200
Curency Brass(2 varieties)..$6,750 Good, Fine $13,500
Curency Silver ...... $95,000 Fine
So that will answer your question about why no price is listed.
Wouldn't mind seeing the back... Also weight of the coin.. I wouldn't mind digging up one, even a replica...
