Is it possible to refresh the visual TID when you have a target pinpointed?

I hunt in city parks that are full of iron trash. When I find an iffy target, what I'll do is pinpoint so that the target is center to the coil. This allows me to hone in and isolate the target from nearby trash. Then with a wiggle, I can listen to the target's sound. But the problem I'm having is getting the visual TID to refresh at this point. Say I have a small coin at 12-45 and next to it I have a big nail. I use pinpoint to center the coil onto the coin. I can hear 12-45, however, the e-trac will read the larger nail, and the Etrac displays 30-38. The visual TID locks to 30-38, it does not refresh. To fix this, I would have to back the coil away from the targets so that the threshold returns, that I'll have to return back to pinpointed position to get a "new" visual reading. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. As you can imagine, this is problematic as I sometimes loose the target position and have to re-pinpoint.

Is there better method to get the visual TID to refresh without having to move the coil away. I wish the Etrac had a "reset-read" visual TID button.

I've did a search on the forum and I have found a post where someone mentioned the same problem: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?63,1387266,1387266
It was an interesting read. In one comment. it was suggested to lift the coil up. I tried this out in the field, a bit better, but If possible, I still rather not move the coil away from the pinpointed target.

Is there a better method?
Note, my DISPLAY TIMEOUT setting is OFF and FAST ON is ON.

The best thing to do is pinpoint WITHOUT using the pinpoint button, just wiggle over the target while slowLy pulling the coil back so you can hear the desired target you are aiming for! It is the most accurate way to pinpoint hands down. I made a video and posted it in the etrac classroom if you don't understand what I am saying

Thanks for the tip. Tonight, I tried your technique. It's interesting and a great alternative to pinpointing. I had excellent results locating target at the coil's front end. However, you do need to be sure that there is no other target between the coil and you. I had a few situations where I was sweeping towards my feet to locate the target at the coil's front edge. However, there was also iron in the way, so I had to reorient myself to avoid it. While it is easy to correct, the issue does not resolve the Etrac's visual TID target locking . Once the e-trac locks in, the visual TID is fixed. Usually, the way to get a new reading is to remove all targets from the detection field so that the threshold returns and then you rescan the target. Sometimes it still pick up the larger Iron target and I have to do it again.
This doesn't happen in all cases, just when their is multiple metallic objects next to the target of interest.

the etrac however good is always going to lock on to the stronger signal if it is a shallow target i always use my pro pointer to locate which means about 1 in 5 targets average i dont bother too much with exact exact pinpointing if there is a good target a sweep two way and dig usually finding it quite near actually seem to be getting better at it as yesterday everything was in the hole i dug and i came back quite chuffed with myself hope this weather is allowing everyone to get lots of detectin happy hunting

ive noticed that when i pinpoint, the cross-hair constantly refreshes. no numbers, due to the pinpoint display taking the place of the numbers, but the crosshairs move around the screen.

I noticed that too Moonshine.

Tonight out in the field, I switched to auto. (I usually hunt 25+ manual). Since the senstivity dropped, I noticed that the e-trac would refresh easier as now the target isn't as strong to lock. Played with this method, seemed to slightly help.
