Is it more than just a cheep ring?

I found this on the beach recently and for the most part it looks every bit like a typical crudely made cheap ring. But a closer look reviled it

Rings like that are normally made using what is called the Lost Wax Process, Fusing, or Soldering. It might take a couple casting and a centrifuge to make that ring by casting. Now my question is what did the ring look like before you cleaned it? And by the way I bet that

Unless the ring has been damaged, a open ring like that are usually toe rings.

From the 100's of rings that I have found and from my old age knowledge toy and adjustable rings come like that. Toe rings are almost always made of gold or silver, and very small and smooth. I have found more than a few toe rings and all have been gold, just saying.

I also have a friend that makes rings in his backyard trailer jewelry shop, he's a silver smith and specializes in silverware jewelry but works with gold and uses the lost wax process. It is not easy putting two metals to gather, like gold won't solder to silver, and to solder gold together a higher or low kt of gold solder is used.

It looks like it began as a chain and someone beat it into a solid ring. Here are some chains that resemble what it may have started as but I havn't found any with multiple types of metals. That alone would make it too expensive to manufacture as 'cheap jewelry'. One characteristic of your ring is that it is 3 strands or links wide at any given point as seen in some of these chains.

Thanks all for your input.

Here's an even closer look at the ring. The more I look, I have to agree, it looks to have been assembled from two not so precious metals, that had been plated prior to assembly.

I find it interesting the copper had been plated with gold and they used another darker metal for what looks to have been plated with silver.

The other image, from a previous post, shows how it looked before I cleaned it up.

That other ring looks like it has lady liberty as shown on the Indian Head penny with the feathered hair dress! :)
