Is it just me or does everyone have this problem in road/ sidewalk construction sites???

Most all of the nickels and pennies I find in construction sites, road or sidewalk, are corroded all to heck. That or one side (or both) has sand and gravel growing right into the coin. Anyone else notice this?? I haven't found to much silver in construction sites ( under roads or sidewalks) but it seems to hold up ok. HH Dan

You have to remember that the base they used for concrete years back came from the by-products of coke batteries. That's just my thought.
