I really have a bad feeling about this coil I got from KELYCO:thumbdown:
well I got my DD coil this evening and upon further inspection heres what I found:

1: The bottom coil looks suspicious, the color is greyish compared to the stock coil on my GTP1350 which is smooth black. I'm not sure if its because their two different coil thats why they have different surface. My guess is they cleaned it and tried layering it with epoxy.

2: The plug from the coil to the detector. The picture says it all, and why is there a pink paint on it:shrug:

3: The scratches on the coil itself, looks like they used a black sharpie to cover the scratches:thumbdown:

I paid $168 for this coil and at a $168 I expected something new, its not like we pull $168 behind our @ss and thats it. It come from hard work.

Now do you think KELYCO will ship me a brand new one and include a pre paid shipping box so I can ship this "used" one back to them? Cause I ain't paying 2 more shippings!!! + I'm leaving the country next week:rant:

I really need everyones advise whether you had a problem with "THEM" before or not.

Thanks a bunch:thumbup:

Looks like a lousy "refurb and sell it for new" job to me, Heavymetal.

I bought one detector from Kellyco, or let's say I got sold one last May. I was looking at a mid-priced Garrett, Whites and Titan. She said "absolutely the Titan"=so I bought it. Find out later this is a special built for Kellyco ; It's OK, but not worth $300. I got sold the "Special of the Day":ranting:

Lots of folks on various forums have related their "first, but last purchase" stories. This is mine.

There seems to be a never ending parade of horror stories with K-Co. Its enough to make me shy away from "The SuperStore" and simply work with guys like Bob Kerr, Chuck Clevenger, and any of the other fine dealers on here - or to buy used from the good folks hereabouts.

Sorry about your hard learned lesson and I hope you can cajole them into a refund - I'd want to settle for nothing less.

David

I would call Kelly co NOW and ask for new one. Tell them the pics are on Findmall Garrett Forum. I don't know what happened. I have purchased a couple detectors in the past and had no problems. I know Garrett won't send out a coil in that condition to any dealers though.

I guess that's the color of the resin they used. But you have more scratches then I do, and I've used mine quite a bit.

Well I called the person who took my order and she's from the International Department since my case is a bit complicated. I sent her an email last night with pictures. She and her supervisor was also shocked to see why would they shipped something like that in that condition! I mean WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING!!!!!!?????
In short they are sending me a new one hopefully by Saturday and I emphasized that this time I hope to get a brand new one, they said they'll make it a point!!!! Another + is they'll pay for the shipping on the bad coil too ;)

So props to the people in the INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENT ;)

I bought a large coil for my ace 250 from them.Didn't have a problem except in the beginning with the phone service, answered all my email promptly and even gave me a discount on coil because of the problem and some coupons. Her name was Wanda Edwards. But i have heard a lot of negative stuff also.I hope it works out for the best, they should find out who put that in the box you can see it is used or damaged.Let everyone know what happen.

Are you serious BOB:blink: the 10x14 coil you got from Garrett has a BLACK surface on the bottom part of the coil?!

Well they're gonna send me one again on Saturday, I wonder if it's gonna be black:shrug:

You were sold either a demo, a customer return, or a factory reject. THe coils are supposed to be solid black. But glad to hear they are taking care of the problem, and well they should.

Bill

Now you guys have me concerned about what I'm getting. I have a 250 on order from Kellyco and got the other 2 coils for it. Supposed to be here next week. I guess I'm just dense; didn't dawn on me for a while that the 250 pro package was just the regular 250 package with the 9x12 added at the regular price. But I do get a real nifty neat rain and dust cover!

I wouldn't sweat it. Yours will probably arrive as expected. Kellyco is the biggest in the U.S. and has been around for decades. They didn't get that way by constantly screwing their customers. Good luck with your new toy, you're going to love it.

Bill

Wanda was mentioned at Kellyco, in a previous note. Wanda is a teriffic person. She will go out and do whatever she has to do to make things right for the customer. I try to use local dealers whenever I can, and occasionally due to someone having a bad day or whatever, the customer service is lacking. I'm sure at Kellyco that all the sales staff isn't as motivated as Wanda, but she more than makes up for the ones who are there just to put in 8 and go home. Ask for her. You may have to wait for a call back, or call her again, because she is in demand by others. She has built a great reputation for herself. ALL this praise is to let you know, that customer service is worth more to me than raw price to me. Thx youall for letting me put my 2 cents worth in.

Looks like they've peddled you a returned or demo coil. Kellyco is good for this crap. Get on the phone and ask for J.W. and build a fire under his butt. This coil should be replaced at no cost to you.

Bill

In my book kellco.....should be called kelley con.. I havent heard one good thing about that company. this is all imop.
