Is it hard to shorten the cable on my CoinStrike?

Tony N (Michigan)

I'd like to shorten the cable on the CoinStrike I have so it just wraps a couple times around the pole then to the box.
Is it hard to take apart the end that screws into the box and re-use it? Or do I need to cut the line
and splice the wires together?

Thanks.

Easy to do, take the connector apart, note where each color wire is soldered to what numbered pin. Desolder the cable from the connector. Cut your cable and resolder.
I have done it a few times, not a big deal.
Just don't cut the cable too short, in case you sell the detector to a taller person who needs to extend the coil out further. 48" long should be just about right.

 What Sven says.
But keep in mind if you're going to hipmount you'll need some extra cord...
