to be difficult to view in bright sunlight? If so, is there any way that it can be made brighter or are you just hung with the situation? Any suggestions? Kelley (Texas) :)

Yes it is quite common.

I've tried a number of supposed solutions. I found that for me the "hood type" devices (even the elaborate ones) were not very effective. While they helped some you could get a similar effect by shading the LCD with your hand, etc.

With my P&S camera I used a visor with a magnifier and found it quite good (see the following link):

It can be held up when you want to view the LCD or attached to the LCD with an elastic strap. I believe it can't be used for an LCD greater than 2 inches.

With my DSLR I am using the following product which to me is the best solution yet:

The LCD loupe has a lanyard to put around your neck and when you want to use the LCD you just hold it up temporarily. It works well and is supposed to work with up to a 3 inch LCD. It does not magnify much but the diopter adjustment allows me to use it with my glasses much easier than any other solution that I've tried.

Not sure if this helps as YMMV. Good luck in your search.
