Is it broken?(HELP)

Dalton

New member
when I lift my metal detector in to the air and wave it around it starts to beep
and I know there is nothing there.
Could someone tell me if it is broken?

The metal detector I use is a Bounty hunter Land Star (if that helps)

:clsoedeyes:I don't think it is broken. My QDII does the same thing. It will also beep when I hit little twigs or bunches of grass. Also the same thing that happens when you lift your detector at the end of the swing like a pendulum. It is just a false signal. Something about the magnetic or electrical field it sees when you move away from and toward the ground. Somebody else will surely explain this better than me. Easiest way to fix the problem is to quit swinging your detector around in the air

First off, the detector was not made to work in air...when you lift the coil, the machine no longer is calibrated to the surrounding air...If you set it up right, it was calibrated to the ground under the coil...the electromagnetic field is broken when the coil leaves the grouns, and this may induce a tone from the machine...as the coil is swung in the air, it also will induce a false tone from the machine...This is perfectly normal...just push the al metal button, raise the coil to your waist height, hit the ground-trac button, then lower the coil to the ground again and hit the ground-trac one more time...if the detector makes a tone, repeat these steps...if it is silent, your all set.
