I did buy ACE250 last week so this Wednesday I went proudly with my new gadget to the beach it was +5 Little bit windy but i was ready for the treasure hunting so I live my car on parking took my Ace250 and after 10-15 min treasure hunting it stop working it's stop picking signals from the metal i did the test at home on all metals and it was working fine but now when I took it to the Beach for first 10 minutes it was fine but after it's just stops so with the Sad face on my Head i get beck to my car i turned my car on, turned the heater on because I freeze a little an start to look on my new toy Wat happen with it the battery was fool charge the coil was connected every thing was fine so i sit in my car for about 20 min and it's become pretty worm and then suddenly Ace 250 start work again but again for so short of time 10-15 minutes the coil cools down an it's stops piking the signal I try it for couple of times worm it up in the car and then 10-15 min and stops and then again my be some body did get the same, or I need to exchange it for new

I wish I could help but I don't know what the tempature range is on them. Like I need to know. I live in sunny California:hot:

In really cold weather your LCD will work slower. But to have it just up and quit isn't right. It sounds like a component might be shrinking because of the cold and pulling away from a connection. I don't know but I would call Garrett and ask.
PS. Maybe one of you batteries is opening up after getting cold? Did you try new batteries?

Try some new batteries or some of John Edmontons tricks for cold weather hunting, he insulates the housing and also uses a hot pack for hands in the battery housing to keep the batteries warm. If John reads this I am sure he will comment on some of his tricks.

OK thanks for advise, tomorrow i will tray again :poke:, I did phone to Garrett so I run some test with my Ace250 - at home again i put it in the fridge for 10 min to -10 turned on, but it was working fine so some kind of poltergeist, tomorrow I will Record on video if it will happen again

If it's to cold your batteries fail and your detector dies. They don't work well at freezing temperatures.

They list the operating temps in the manuals but they left that info out of the 250 manual. Operating temps are usually 0-130 degrees or somewhere in between. His tector just got to cold to function.

You need to use a hand warmer in the battery pack and a wool sock over that.
The hand warmer keeps the batteries from draining and they will drain fast in the cold!
I have hunted in 25 and 30 degree weather for 4 to 5 hours with no problem.

RObert R[/quote]I'd be good for 4-5 min. in that kind of weather:wacko:

were having a bible study at their house and it was fall. us Buckeyes walked outside in the high 50's air in short-sleeved shirts and stood around and talked for awhile. The wife of the Call-e-fornia, pronunciation by Gov. Swartzen-GrabHer, family came out in a winter coat. I asked her her, "Woman what are you going to do when it gets really cold around here?" She asked, "How cold does it get?" I told her "-20F sometimes, you know that's 52F below freezing." She asked, "What do you do?" "Stay inside, because we're not stupid." No offense intended John-Edmonton just messing with the lady and awitster!

It is the batteries, not the metal detector. I tried to take photos of the lunar eclipse on Wednesday night. The low battery indicator on the camera lit up. After coming inside, I was able to use the camera without a problem.
