Is it a Bullet??

Found this on a site in Old Brazoria, Tx. It's were many of the first Americans settled after immigrating to Texas in 1821. It weighs 6 grams, the same as the reproduction .36 caliber bullet pictured with it. I can't figure how it ended up in a bowl shape. Another was found by a hunting buddy in the same area. It is lead, came in a mid tone with a mid 50's on the VDI.

It looks pretty much like a fired round ball that hit something. Left over lead from molds often got tossed as well. It has the right color, for sure. HH jim tn

I agree with Jim- I find many lead bullets and spills in all shapes and sizes. The patina says it's old, probably 100+. Besides lead spills, many areas experienced a fire at some point, melting bullets and lead soldiers and anything else in their path. Likewise with structure fires.

Looks like a round ball to me. You would get that shape firing one into sand or soft dirt at close range I would imagine.

Yep, it`s cool to find smashed up bullets in an area with history and try to imagine what life was like back then and what kind of round it is that was fired. Maybe in a future hunt you will find some drops in that area to compare it to as well. Nice dig!
