Is F4 all hype????

New member
I have been reading alot of positive reports about the F4.
It sounds too good to be true and we know how that story usually ends. So, I would like to know from the horses mouth ( all you users hahahaha):)-)your opinion about this machine?
What do you like about it. What DON'T you like? I also hear it is a lot faster than the ACE250.

ANy cretique would be very helpful.

Regards

Hi Robert, no hype at all. I probably shouldn't say this on a Fisher forum but I am a Tesoro fellow at heart - just telling you this so you know that I am not bragging up the F4 just because it is a Fisher. I have been using a F4 this summer and I can honestly tell you that it is one heck of a detector. Amazing accurate id'ing of coins/light weight well balanced/quality built/great discrimination/deep seeking/etc. The only problem I am having with it lately is I can't seem to pry it out of my wife's hands. She really enjoys using as much as I do. Don't listen to anyone that tells you that the F4 is the same thing as the Discovery 3300 They are NOT the same in any way shape or form. What I like most about the F4 is that it is so much fun to use & fun is important. Steve.

From what I read and input from knowledgeable detectorists F-4 appears to be a good mid-line unit..Gosh tried a lot but haven't tried this one yet....

I just got back from Sacramento anf got a chance to use the F4 for about 15 minutes on the ocean beaches yesterday. My brother-in-law just recieved it as his first detector last Thursday or his birthday and wanted a lesson.

I set it up and notched out everything up penny as I wanted to see how it would handle all the trash there. It was solid on every coin we went over. We got 3 dimes, 4 pennies and a PA Dutch country elongated cent, which I claimed for my collection. That was the charge for the lesson haha....I plan on ordering on for myself to use along with the F75.

He got the 11" DD, 8 concentric and the 4" coils. Personally I think the 8" will would be my choice as the DD wasn't all the accurate at pinponting. But that 8" was dead on with the machine detuning albility. Deepest we dug was 4" but it was a solid loud tone without the headsets. I don't see how any one could go wrong at its price.

because the F4 is coming with two coils at $425 while the banana comes with two coils at just shy of $300. So the obvious question is... are the added features and abilities of the F4 over "Ol Yeller" worth the extra $125? In my opinion, YES and then some!

I am the type of person that won't knock any brand, but if something is junk in my opinion I will call it junk. The Ace is not junk by any means, I used one all last summer (Garrett is a great company) - but is the F4 better? You bet it is, I have been using a F4 this summer and I wouldn't think of going back to the Ace. If your budget is around $200 plus a little the Ace is a good machine - if you have the extra money go for the F4 it is a great machine. Steve...

No need to bash the Ace 250 here. It's a good detector for $ 212.

The F4 offers really more for $425. I have tested them side by side and the F4 is a level better. The 11" DD coil of the F4 cuts in bad ground better than any Ace coil. The F4 also stays more stable at higher sensitivity settings. Just to name a few things the F4 can do better.

Thank you for all the replies.
I own an Ace 250 and I have just begun to
