Is everyone out huntin (or staying in front of the stove)?----Here's one for ya!

The wife & I took two GB Pro's & one G2 on a hunt the other day.----It was at an area like I have NEVER seen before as far as power lines etc.-----There was also a good size sub-station close by and I mean, there were large power lines ALL OVER this whole area, we were in (a large athletic field(s)/park complex).-------I wanted to do some testing for EMI interference with these detectors/coils.------Results was: No matter where I went in the whole area, the very worst interference I ever got was just a "wee" bit of static, nothing serious & you could easily pick out good target hits, a "no brainer".----Tests was done with both the 11" DD bi-axial coil & new 5X10" DD bi-axial coils used on both the GB Pro's & G2 & they were run at disc 40 (sometimes lower) and maxed sensitivity.------I've been around enough places & tested enough detectors, I can tell ya, those are EXCELLENT EMI results!------What great, amazing little detectors, I just like 'em more every time I take them out!------I find they are really doing excellent in relic & coin hunting---gotta get em out in the gold fields next.----------Del

Keep us posted fine Sir............... Loved the post..

Sweet thanks for the information

Del sometimes i have to wave my GB over my boot to make sure its on.:detecting:
I have asked others why the G2 / GB run so quiet when compared to other FT machines with same size coil.
Thy say the F75 is more powerful, True but i think the 0mega and GB are close on depth
and the O 8 can be EMI plagued. I know thy all run different Freqs but thy are all FT products

I plan on setting up the GB with the 5 x 10 coil for side walk hunting in the spring.

5 x 10 coil is a good choice. And yes, standing by the stove with a cold for now. Waiting for spring !!!!!

Great post Del! The dual processors the the G2 and gold bug pro are EXCELLENT for reducing EMI and quiet in iron. Best out!

The Omega is more sensitive to EMI because it has a higher level of sens built into it. It will also go deeper than the G2 due to higher sens levels. This is not a slam on the G2. Its just a difference in the machine's builds. My Omega has about the same sensitivity as the T2 I owned. I use just about the same sensitivity settings in same areas for the Omega/T2. Here is a little test done by Earthmansurfer a while back:

"I know air tests don't say a lot but I did air tests on all of my machines...G2 at full sensitivity don't hit as deep as the Omega 8000 set at 55.I set both machines as high as I could for testing inside and still be stable. Actually, the Omega with sens set at 55 was hitting coins as deep as my MXT Pro (set to +2 almost max sens) was in air tests indoors. I was very happy with those results. I've never had a machine that would go nuts at high sens settings like the Omega does and was worried I wouldnt get the depth due to using a much lower setting...however I was very wrong."

I have run my GB with a buds O8 , on one target he hit a soft repeatable target my GB hit it the same
soft repeatable but with better ID .. A clad dime at nine inches.
I also read that in Florida tests thy both hit a dime at 10,2 inches about there max depth.

The O8 may hit high conductors better .
The GB will hit low conductors better , with better ID than anything i have used.
My GB can hang with my F75 in air test over 12 inches on a Nickle.

Now if the O8 has more bottom end sensitivity , i dont think it has much top end gain/ sensitivity.

Yes the O8 should be better on silver and copper coins as it's 7.8khz and the GB and G2 should be better on gold and nickles as it's 19khz. At least that is my experience so far using my O8 and G2 I got from Bart on here last fall. Love them both.
