Birch Engineering hip mount kit and if so, how practical is it when you are digging a target?
Also, can you still mount and use a Sunray X-1 probe? Thanks.

The Hip Mount Kit can be attached to your body in several different ways. The meter assembly can be attached (with a clip provided) to a pant belt loop, or the whole assembly can be mounted on your back with the meter at your left hip, etc. We have had a lot of feedback from customers that have come up with many creative ways to attach it and make it comfortable while digging a target.
The hip mount kit works with all Sun Ray products including the Probe. Most people mount the Probe on the Explorer shaft when using the HMK.

A nice bit of kit.
I have also used a probe with mine.
The real use for my hip mount comes on sandy beaches when I want to keep the contol box well away from the sand and water.
If my elbow is playing up I also use it in the fields.
You will need to make the connection 100% waterproof with a good quality sealant and it will give a professional finish where the shaft box sections meet and also where the foam seal provided protects the bottom of the control box where the cables enter.(push the seal in so that you can get 1/8" sealent on the face and with a wet finger wipe it will look the business.Jerry.UK.

Yes I use the Birch hmk and it works very well for me.
