Is an Excalibur too heavy for a lady?

Hello, I was wanting an Excalibur for Christmas/ Birthday gift.
Is this going to be too much for a 5'-9" lady to swing. I have had a couple of detectors
but it is around 5 lbs. Seems like a lot to swing. Any help?
Thank you, Mary

It is heavy, but there are options. Hip mounting or Swingy thingy. I hip mount. Actually I back mount. I never used a swingy thingy. Getting an after market rod seems very popular.

I do not believe it ill be too heavy when you start finding all the Good Stuff. I have mine hip mounted. I found an old Nylon Pistol Case at the Goodwill store and it fits vry good with a long side zipper. I did put another grommet in the bottom and when I am in the surf this lets the water out also when I get back to land. I got to a Senior Center and swing 10 lbs weights like I am detecting. This will help and also I think it helped the waist line.goldnugget-Charlotte.N.C.

I hear that. I suppose the weight work out is a really good idea. I used to bowl with a 12 lb ball. At
first it seemed heavy but after a while I got used to it. Guess the same would hold true here. That
is great info and I appreciate it.

just get something to protect the coil wire as it comes out of the pod.

so,if u drop the shaft or whatever, the protector pulls again itself and not the wire

Please don't think I am a dummy. But how do u use the controls if it is mounted on your back.
A great idea though. No weight problem there. I haven't looked at an operators manual on the Excal.
I assume you can set most of them and not need to change them.

Once you get the feel of the detector you will adjust very little. I use discrimination at the very minimum. Some hunt in all metal and switch to discrim to verify. You will learn where the switch is behind your back or not. The above post about protecting your cord is very important. Don't let it be pulled on.

My 50 year old wife uses our Excal ll for 6 hour hunts with no problems. We use the help of a "hip mount" (more like a belly belt mount), and a swingy thingy. (The Rod only has the 10" coil on it, and the swingy Thingy helps take that weight off your arm, and put it back onto your torso. She is more addicted to hunting then even ME!:twodetecting: Kellyco will match any price you find on the net, but then you do not get all the "extra freebies" with your order.
