Is it a must to have a coin and jewelry tumbler? I am new to detecting and waiting for the snow to melt <img src="/metal/html/tongue.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":b"> so I can finally get out with my new Ace 250. If I should have one...than what one is a good one that won't damage any finds I might get.
Any info would be appreciated.

I have a basic tumbler from hobby lobby. I use it to clean the basic pocket change that i find. Some of those coins can come up pretty ruff and a tumbler works well. I would not use it on rings ,silver coins or anything of value.

and believe me, those clad coins will be cruddy!! I usually get a couple of tumblers worth a week. Just remember to tumble pennies seperately and nickles seperately. If you are lucky enough to find some silver, they will look pretty and clean, almost just like the day they were dropped. Good luck with the two-five-oh and keep us informed on your progress.
