Does the 800 have a grunt for iron say in three tone or two-tone or five-tone? Is it a grunt or just the lowest tone and can you program the tone so you can change the pitch>

Yes, last night I figured it out. Equinox user can increase iron grunt audio.

The best way I know to answer your question is to use tone pitch and tone volume in combination to those results. Choose the Search mode you want to modify as this is a local setting, then go to tone volume advanced setting t1 is your first tone break {iron} you can lower the volume of that bin or any other bin for that fact {just the iron on the 600}. So I have my threshold at say 5 and my iron break at 8 so when I enable all metal { the horseshoe button} you can still hear the iron but at a tolerable level and the good targets jump out at you, volume wise.
Same thing with the pitch select the iron break or any other section {1st tone only on the 600} and lower it to the tone {grunt} you prefere.
These 2 adjustments made a world of diference for me, hope they answer/help you
