Hmm, maybe a spike from the leg of an old suveyor tripod? Just a guess.
 
See the threads on the end.. I think you found an old rusty laser light case.. 2 batteries in chamber, and end screwed on making the connection..
 
It looks like a replacement electric soldering iron tip like I used as a kid. They were a lot bigger than todays but the principal is the same. :shrug:
 
Could have been from a furnace/kiln heated soldering iron , they were popular years back ... just saying ... Woodstock
 
It is solid, heavy, so Kt, you might be close, I like the solder tip idea.. that's a possibility, maybe for the old torch type..? but I still think it had to be an anchor for something that is heavy and needs to stay in place. Just can't think what that thing would be. thanks for the ideas!
