Iron Relic ID

I have been hunting an older site that has been producing a lot of Civil War bullets both dropped and fired. I found these two interesting pieces of iron in the same general area. One of them is some type of handle, but to what. The other I think may be a horse collar, but did they make them out of iron? Thanks in advance!

Looks like a "hame" from off a saddle......nge
 
top pic definitely a top of a horse hame from a horse collar. Yes the made all metal ones. although most were brass as for as the top of the hame.
