IRON MAST AT 16 FOR THE BEACH - if i try this do i have to select all the tabs like coin, jew. pull tabs or just turn on and go to -16? thanks

I dont think you have to put in IM at the beach unless your picking up too many low tones akin to "bumbumbudabumbumbum" <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> .
I also would not put in any disc unless you have limited time, in a hurry or just want a realzing stroll on the beach while holding a detector.
Dig everything from foil and up to find gold. Learn to listent for what not to dig as you go along. Dont pass on too many mid tones.

The beaches in Southern California that I hunt are loaded with nails. In fact, there are more nails than pulltabs.
I have tried both Conductive and Ferrous modes. In my opinion Ferrous mode is the better way to hunt, but that is a personal opinion. When using Ferrous mode the low pitched growl quickly identifies nails, while in Conductive mode, nails tend to sound like quarters.
In the Ferrous mode I hunt with the Iron Mask set to -16 to prevent masking good targets that are close to a nail. Then, I dig all targets that do not produce a low pitched growl. In order to get nickels and gold you are going to have to dig some pulltabs. With a good sand scoop you can dig any target in less than 10 seconds.
Just my opinion and I am sure that others have their own preferences.

Glenn
