It's obvious that I am new to the Expolrer but I have read the manual (twice) and Andy Sabisch book and still do not know HOW or WHEN to use Iron Mask. I am not a relic hunter primarly coins and gold, but neither off the books discuss how or when to capitalize on Iron Mask in the field. I am having problems in that I am getting coin readings on rusty nails ect. can Iron mask help me? If so how do I set it up and use it?
I told you I was stupid. Thanks Rick

iron mask pretty easy to setup, just push the iron mask button once, that will bring you to the setting screen where you can use the arrows to set it where you want I usually run at -10, then hit iron mask button again and your in iron mask mode.. it overrides anything that is disced oyut and any pattern you were running.. the best way is to use the smart screen as you can see the way its running, with only the very left part of the screen blacked out,, your iron falses will read far left on the smart screen, anything that reads with a igh tone and reads anywhere right of the iron masked out area should be dug, especially in high iron areas..

Thanks Jim, I tried running it yesterday and did pretty good Four Merc's and six Wheats lots of clad. What about those high tones that hit right at the top but next to the masked out section, right on the line. I am working in a area with tons of rusty nails and bolts and they halo off some pretty funky tones?

Generaly the nails will read just a hair off the top, and be much more broken up.. the coins that read that far left will lock on with a more solid tone than iron does.. something about the quality of the tones as well.. if it sounds bad it usually is
