Iron Mask

I am totally confused by iron mask when I use it. What sounds are you listening for? What is the crosshair supposed to do? Can sombody totally explain it?

If you have your audio set for conductivity then your listening for the high tones that generally indicate silver or copper. Also if your gain is set for 7 or less then you are litening for quieter sounds that indicate a deeper coin. The crosshair will give a reading on both conductivity and ferrous level displayed on an XY axis type grid. This a VERY general overview in response to your question. You should read the manual all the way through a few times and get Andy Sabich's book "Mastering The Minelab Explorer" and read it a few times. Also, until you are really comfortable with the Explorer I would suggest that you use the digital mode to help you learn what the Explorer is telling you. Good luck and good hunting!

Howdy ZORO, NIMROD is right. You will need to read both books all the way through with the Explorer and PRACTICE-PRACTICE-PRACTICE all the different modes, and it will all make alot more sense. I thought I would never get the hang of how to use anything but the pre-programed mode plus a few other settings. But the light WILL click on. Oh yea, I had to read both books about 10 times cover to cover, but I think 30% or more came from the 2 Explorer forums I read.
