I've got a question. Does IM discriminate the affected targets or does it just silence the audio for them?

I wondered the same thing. IM behaves in exactly the same way as discrimate mode. When in IM or In disc mode...whatever targets appear in the black area of the screen are nulled. I like this feature as opposed to other machines which simply provide no indication that you've passed over a target which you've disc'd out. With the Minelab Explorer you hear the null and know there's something there and provides an opportunity to double check the target in AM wide open screen to see what you might be dealing with. This assumes of course you run your machine with an audible threshold tone in the background...without that it would be silent like all the rest.

Like turning a knob on the old machines it disc's the processed signal..... which is both the screen and audio. Dont quote me by i think if you PP it will show the location on the smartscreen.... even if its in the black.

I just tested my SE with an old square nail in pinpoint mode. With my IM set at 22, it clearly showed it's location in the extreme upper-left corner of the Smartfind screen. I think I read somewhere that the Explorer XS and II models will not perform this function in pinpoint mode.

I have an EXP II.
I will have to try that experiment and get back to the group.

The XS and EX2 do not have this feature. It is an invaluable aid when helping to make the final decision on whether or not to dig.

I have made countless posts on this all metal/ID'ing pinpoint mode which is exclusive to the SE.

Which is exactly why I decided to buy the Sunray X-1 probe ..... because my pro-pointer won't do that.
