Iron mask

Well nobody else is posting much so I guess I might as well make a pest out of myself again.
I hunted in iron mask for 3 hours today and I'm beginning to like it. No silver but 4 wheaties and I seem to be getting deeper targets than I did with my tight discrimination pattern. I'm hunting with a setting of -14 and manual sensitivity as high as possible without getting to unstable.
QUESTION- I get a lot of high pitch signals that are repeatable but the curser stays glued to the upper left hand corner of the screen and doesn't budge. Should I be digging all these signals. They are very strong but as far as depth most of them indicate at least 6". Also how about signals on the bottom half of the screen. I'm hunting in conductive - fast.

try ferrous audui mode, those iron hits will give low tones for the most part, then its easier to tell a good target in iron by the higher tone.. just ignore any high tones that the cursor stays solid bottom right up to about half way to the top of the very right of the screen.. thats where tin and flat iron comes in, as well as bottle caps.. never dug anything good that read bottom right, but it does sound pretty good in ferrous mode

Thanks Jim- How about those signals I was talking about where the cursor locks on top right.-Chuck

Correction to last post-I mean cursor locks on to top left.

If the cirsor locks top left, its almost certainly iron, using conduvtive audio these will give you a very high tone.. make sure that the variability setting is maxxed out, and you should be able to tell a high toned iron from a good target, iron usually gives a distinctive pingy high tone where a good target is much more smooth and a hair lower in tone.. however using ferrous audio those upper left hits will generally stay low toned.. If you get higher quality tones mixed in you might have a good target near iron

Thanks Jim-If it stops raining I'll go out and give ferrous a try after lunch.

Hi Chuck,
I never look at the screen. I only listen to sounds. I use Mike Moutray's settings, but he uses IRON MASK 10 and I use IRON MASK 12. I also use GAIN 8. He uses a VARIABILITY 8 because it makes some iron signals super high pitched whereas silver comes in as slightly lower pitched. With these settings you can listen and decide which is high-pitched iron, and which is high-pitched (but not as high) silver. In your IRON MASK 14 I get alot of those high-pitched iron sounds. These sounds represent the absolute highest-pitched sounds in the sound spectrum. I never use the depth feature because if your gain is not turned up too high (Moutray uses GAIN 6) you can judge deep vs. surface targets. I dig targets that repeat in one direction, sound deeper that 5 inches, and have a silver/copper pitch. If I were you, I would never look at the crosshairs again unless you need them to ID the target in your hole when you are using the X1 target probe.

Thanks Mike-Everyone seems to have a little different settings that they use but I'm trying them all and looking for the best settings for my own needs. One thing for sure I am getting away from my old way of hunting with the tight discrimination mode. Since hunting in Iron mask I seem to be finding deeper targets and more of them.
Thanks-Chuck NJ

I was using Iron Mask at 0 and still getting a few iron signals that way all the non ferrous items were coming through with a lot less digging.

i would like a pic of the <span style="background-color:#ffff00;">iron mask used in the movie </span>:help <span style="background-color:#ffff00;"></span>
