Iron Mask Question / Newbie

I am new to the explorer, but have been hunting for ( CZ-20, Shadow X-5, Cortes) about a year. I took my XS out for the third time today. I still can't understand the Iron mask feature. It is set to factory default at -6 however most times it is off according to its indicator. Is this a mode one would jump in and out of? Similar to switching to all metal when trying to pinpoint with say a Tesoro Cortes? Should the iron mask be on all the while when I hunt? Is it just used when I get an iffy target to null out the iron and leave the "sweet sound" thereby prompting me to dig? So many questions...........BUT I AINT GIVIN' UP!

hey mike you dont need to hunt in IM at all....there are other settings you can try also but thats prefered by many users for the ability to hide unwanted targets and sniff out wanted targets,with the IM you will be ale to use the 2D cross hair (advanced smart)also for the conductivity of a target you can set up the xs for YOUR type of hunting....hope it helps ya a little <IMG SRC="/forums/images/wink.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=";)">......HH Bri
