Iron infested areas

Member
Which is better in iron infested areas such as around old cellar holes the AT PRO or the AT GOLD , currently I have a minelab safari and am having a tough time hunting in these areas , any advise would be helpfull , THANKS

I would imagine that the difference between the two would be minimal. The 5 x 8 coil is a wonderful coil. If both are equipped with this coil either should do the job.

There are a few videos of a man named Bill Ladd detecting cellar holes with his gold and 5 x 8 coil on Youtube. You should check them out. There is like three parts to watch. The power of these Garrett machines is made quite clear.

In my opinion your Safari is great detector. It is deep and can detect almost any kind of soil including wet salty sand. But recovery speed is where it needs help. The AT series detectors have that.
