Iron Audio

Hi All......First off...i think my unit is working ok BUT here is my experience: When i turn iron audio "on"......IT DOESNT SOUND OFF! When i turn it "off "......IT SOUNDS OFF. It didnt start out this way when i first got it. But it sure is now. Anyone else have this happen?

Thanks

Make sure you have iron disc out when using the iron audio. Maybe you are trying to use both at the same time. Just a thought.

You need to add some discrimination to the detector. Set the machine to a discrimiation of say 30, then you will notice a difference when hunting with the iron audio turned off or on.

Thank you all for the replies! I'm not totally sure BUT in my experience its been easier to distinguish DEEPER " good " targets with "0" iron disc w/iron audio OFF. Any comments/truth to this?
Thanks

If you are going for the deepest targets without a lot of competing iron to mask the the good target then I would use 0 disc with iron audio off. I find it much less fatiguing.
I use this approach until I hit an area that has a lot of iron, then switch to disc of 32 or so to see if I hear any mixed signals. I switch back and forth depending on the conditions. I have had pretty good luck with both coins and relics but it is a matter of what method you have the most confidence in.

I must say that because of this thread and a few similar one's, I paid particular attention to the iron audio while hunting yesterday. I had been using Cusom Pro mode with Disc set at 35. It got to the point where I was just hearing too many mid-tones with the Iron Audio turned on. So I went to the Pro Zero mode and left Disc at 00 and left Iron Audio set to Off. Now I have equal ranges of Low, Mid and High tones as shown on the top graph on page 28 on the manual. For me this is a much more pleasing way to hunt and I can can still flip back to my Custom mode settings at the push of a button.
