Ireland made or malaysia Explorer

To be honest ... i cant say ive heard a lot of complaining about either. Id say you have to own both or know the explorer well to notice if its not working properly. When the SE first came out we had the slimline coil..... you heard the whinning then because Exp II user KNEW they werent right. With the introduction of the Pro... thats went away. One thing you can trust..... if there is a problem with a detector WE know it. There may be a perception..... but i doubt anyone can base it on facts. Also when dealing with electronics..... none are created equal even if they come from the same shop. Of course .... if i were trying to SELL you one id say mine came from Ireland lol.

Mine says "Malaysia" on the outside of the box. I got it late October 2010.....It currently is in Winter springs Florida for warranty repair. Which is better?

Whats the warranty work for? Cant say ive heard many complaints except the norm..... battery or headphones. Even the Pro coil doesnt seem to have a lot if any issues. They are IMO one of the best made machines on the market as far a needing warranty work.

This refers to MY malaysian built Explorer SE Pro (which I have been very happy with),
About two weeks ago I was at an acre size turf area I've hunted before, started digging couple deeper modern cents. Moving on, I start sweeping along and it starts emitting a constant barrage of erratic tones (low, high, mid, all tones). I suspend the coil in air and it quiets down, place coil anywhere near the ground constant erratic tones again. I even tossed a coin on the ground to see if it would detect it...nope, not a peep over the coin. I noise cancelled (manually and auto) numerous times at the scene without any difference, Looked around the area to see a "BIG" fenced off transformer area 100' away (never been a problem before) but I packed up anyway and drove 2 blocks away...same problem, tried all the "fixes" again with no luck. At that point I called it a day and went home (20 miles away) and tried it in my backyard...same problem. Called Minelab, she instructed to ship it in to Florida repair center. The following week they called and said it was "out of warranty" (bought 10/25/2010) and quoted me a "high" triple digit repair price. Its been almost two weeks and I "think" it may be resolved tommorow? I am not naming any companies nor prices (but it ain't far from a new Explorer ).
