Found this while MDing on a beach, sand was really compacted so it's definitely not a recent drop, the item is small, probably 1-2cm wide

Hey Andy, I think what you have there is possibly an antique pin (errr..what's left of it) called a Fainne. These were usually worn on a lapel, or something to show a willingness to speak "the language". It sure is a cool piece, and something I myself would seriously look into a bit more due to my own heritage, and curiosity. Let us know what you find out.

All The Best,
Gemmy

I just wanted to get yeeer opinion?

Its a quarter!

No, it's a device to show the size of the quarter......The symbol is of Celtic origin. Google or search for Medieval or Celtic jewelry for the heck of it. My wife and I are Medieval reenactors and see a lot of similar items in our participation in the SCA. See SCA.org about that.

It looks more like a propeller to me. It reminds me of the U.S. Civil Air Patrol insignia. I'm sure the UK had a similar organization during WWII.
