iPod earphones

Anyone beside me go to the trouble of buying an adapter at Radio Shack, hooking up your iPod earphones to the Garrett, and forever leaving the big, bulky headphones behind?

I use the headphones I use for my scanner when I attend Nascar events because they have volume control on them. Downside is, on a day like today, they are too damned hot. Had to lose them about 2 hours into the hunt. Tried my small MP3 player set but they were too loud.

I was at radio shack a week ago looking for headphones with a volume control. I found sopme, but I also saw that they have an adapter that gives volume control to any pai of headphones. It was a little more than the headphones I picked up, but I was thinking about it!

I use these from Radio Shack and like them quite well...

I use the rechargeable wireless stereo headphones from Radio Shack, # 33-1253. One might think they would interfere with the signal from the detector, but they don't. I've tried them on the ACE ,3300, and some older machines with no interference. And you don't have that umbilical cord tying you to the detector.

I'm sure the day is coming when I slice through the cord on my headphones. This might bet the ticket.

I purchased an in-line volume control cable which takes care of the mp3 headphone volume problem. Another Radio Shack solution.

Same here with the GTI2000, love'em:detecting:

Yeah. You wouldn't like to plug the MP3 phones direct onto an Ace without a volume control. I did it once and the first sound was so loud that I literally dropped the detector. I often hunt just using cheap ear buds. Because they are cheap, they offer more electrical resistance and reduce the volume. What you have set up there will work very well, the only draw back is if you are operating at a beach, or near a busy road, then you may have some trouble hearing the detector.

What did u use to send the signal to the ear phones. I just rigged up a dongle transmitter and a pair of Bluetooth spider earphones to the 550 and the 250 and they seem to work really well. Jerry

I use the small phones with inline volume control and they work great. They are so much cooler and comfortable in the summer heat.
