I just recently bought an Excalibur II with an 8 inch coil. I have an E-Trac and usually hang out on that forum. I was so impressed with the E-Trac for how deep it goes and the accuracy, I figured the Excal would be a good investment. I went out for the second time today with it to the Boise river. The only thing I found was a few pull tabs (like always) and four pair of very slimy sunglasses. I did watch a guy catch a 24 inch steelhead right behind the BSU stadium. Even though I didn't find anything good it was still nice to get outside. Idaho has a lot of lakes and rivers so I am excited about having new places to find pull tabs and bottle caps. I am going to have a lot of questions about the care and use of this detector. Hopefully it don't take long to get up to speed.

The park there right out of Boise heading toward Idaho City should be a good beach for the Excal. Its the one below the outfall from the big earthen dam. A lot of that water you can hunt dry when the reservoirs go down. Are there quite a few water hunters around Boise? When I lived over that way the summer brought a never ending cavalcade of tubers on into and through Boise, so the river should be good too! I made a living back in the early 80s up near Morse Pass area with a 4", 6" and 8" dredge and hookah system. My dredges were made by an old guy who called his mining equipment company "God, Guts, Guns and Gold!" For the life of me I can't remember his name though. Those were the days!

Have fun,
Steve

Oops, I forgot to say "Pleased to meet you!" And if you get a chance try the Tiger Shark too. I don't know which detector (Tiger Shark or Excal) is going to be my back up yet! I like them both! For now I am partial to the Tiger Shark. I am keeping my eye out for a Sov.

Howdy Bo & welcome aboard, coming your way on the 2nd, but not to T-hunt. I prefer the 70 degree water we have here, thank you!

Going to thin the duck and goose population out fer ye! Coming into Boise, just listen for the whoop of a rowdy Texan!
