Introducing myself, Gene Scullion, First Texas Products

Scully

New member
Hello everyone!

Some of you may already know me, posting under the name of "Scully". I used to own Badger Metal Detectors but I now am employed by First Texas Products, as the Sr. Sales Mgr. I will be frequenting the forums more often now, and welcome your questions and/or comments. Being new to the company, I still have a lot to learn, but I will try to assist you as best I can.

I have been metal detecting since 1977 and in that time I have used many machines. Ironically, the last 5 years or so, I fell in love with the Fisher machines, and the F75LTD is my main machine, followed closely by the Gold Bugs. I am still a very active relic hunter and I also do some water hunting (CZ21-10) so I have a good working knowledge of the F75/T2 machines and hunting in heavy iron. The CZ21 is new for me, so that machine I am still learning (I thought it best to sell my Tiger Shark when I started working for FTP!).

Let me know if I can be of service.

Howdy Gene.

You can start by telling us when Fisher plans to release the new CZ.

That is so funny Smudge.
If Dave would not confirm, you don't think Gene will, do you?

Congratulations on the job Gene.
Yep, the boat came by and picked you up.
Wow, I'm still excited.

Hi Gene! Nice to hear from you. Tell your boss we need bigger coils for the G2 and the Goldbug DP. I think you guys are leaving a lot of money on the table here. Many of us would love to get our hands on a nice, big deep DD coil. Like maybe a 15". I'm surprised that the big wigs over there haven't figured this out already. But I guess you guys are already raking in the bucks. If the G2/Goldbug DP isn't powerful enough to drive a 15", then how about a 13" DD? I would buy one right now if you had them. I bet lots of other people would also. A thought just occured to me. Maybe mgt wants to keep the G2/GB DP strictly mid-grade, so it will not detract sales from the high line Tecnetics and Goldbug. This is the only reason I can think of for the lack of larger coils for the G2/GB DP. Two different machines and two different customers/users. I don't think that would be a problem. Kev

Congrats to you Scully! FT got a very knowledgable senior sales manager and a great all around guy.

Just some info on Gene for those of you who haven't met him, I met him personally at a competition hunt here in Wisconsin back in 2005. A local club has an annual hunt near Stevens Point here. I talked with Gene as he was a Tesoro dealer then, and I had Minelab machines and had brought an Advantage to use at the hunt. The Advantage was a terrific overall machine, but not particularly good for a competition hunt (weight and balance not ideal) and Gene saw that and just out of the goodness of his heart, let me borrow his Tesoro Cutlass II for the hunt. (Much better suited to a competition hunt role). That's just how Gene is, he's a great guy. I wanted to mention that here and thank you again Gene for your generousity. I regret that I haven't been back to those hunts since, but I'm sure you will do great in your position with FT and want to congratulate you and wish you every success!

Congratulations in landing the sweet gig! I would like to see a machine along the lines of the ATpro. Any chance of that in the near future? Just a waterproof G2 would work..........

Gene Congrats on the move and cant wait to see some post from you !!!!
