Hey everyone,

New to this forum, not new to the hobby, but it's been awhile since I did any detecting. I built a Radio Shack detector as a kid, and about 10 years ago I got a QDII as a present. I had a lot of fun with them, but as things go I lost the time and interest to devote to it. A few years ago I gave my QDII to the nephews who lived at the beach, and they are having a blast with it. Since I wasn't using it very often I figured why not? Now last week a gal at work was talking about detecting with her husband, and I have the bug again.

I jumped back on the net to find the Bounty Hunter forum I used to be on, but I can't find it. I'm pretty sure it was run directly from the official Bounty Hunter website. I can't seem to find the Bounty Hunter website for that matter. Too much time went by I guess, and things look different. Anybody know where they went?

This seems to be a great site you have here, so I'll park it for now.

I sure wish the QDII had a pin pointer option, I remember there used to be a model just above the QDII that had that feature. A friend had one, but I can't think of the model name now and the new models aren't jogging my memory.

What would you recommend to someone with some experience, that has a pin pointer feature? I don't mind spending $300-$500

I would recommend the bounty hunter discovery 3300 .for a little over $200.00.it has pinpointer, ground balance & tdi readout.

hi my name is john and im from hazelwood mo and i just puchased a bounty hunter discovery 3300 and it works really well, it has a pin pointer button and works really well.I also have a QD ll and it has paid for itself ovber time but ever since i got the other machine i put the old one away for awhile. If your looking to purchase go to e-bay and tyre in bounty hunter discovery 3300 and you can purchase one for $219.00 paypal lets you make payments for 6 months but i already paid mine off this week.It works so well that i also puchased a pro pinpointer and digger tool and a camo carrying bag that holds your pin pointer and trowel all for 173.00 all from garrett the best you can buy and i relly love it. so goodluck to you in the future. my life revolves around metal detecting.:bounty:

Thanks for the advice. I'll check out the 3300.

Do you guys remember the old Bounty Hunter forum? This was 6-9 years ago I guess.

Hi KZ,

I was very active on the old BH site. Now their corporate site lists this Findmall forum and another forum that has a BH section. I hang out here now, but don't post like I used to.

Too bad the spammers and trolls ruined the original site, that's why it got shut down. There was a ton of posts on all the old familiar BH models. I wish I'd saved off a few of the better threads from there. It was still there, hidden on their servers for a long time after it was officially closed, but a couple less-than-obvious links would still take you there to at least read the old posts. You could reply, but there was no one there to read them but me, I guess. I'd go there and route the lost souls to the new forums till finally BH dismantled it all and built a totally new website.

I still remember Pineapple, another very active BH evangelist at that time. We both had Time Rangers and would often compare notes. Jeff Peacock from Canada was another. It's been too long, I don't recall any other members from there. I don't think too many of us from the "old days" are still posting, but maybe they'll post here if they happen to read this thread. Plenty of experienced BH people posting regularly here to carry on the fine tradtion of helping our fellow BH aficionados learn their machines.

BH's company site is still at the same basic link. This one takes you to their Bounty Hunter section: http://www.detecting.com/index2.html

Welcome back! I take sabbaticals from detecting now and then. We've hardly had them out this season, but last year it was nearly every day using a different machine!

Pineapple, now that's a jog down memory lane. If I remember right, he would detect silver first, since it would be the item most valuable and most abundant. He put a Popsicle stick in the ground when he got a hit. He would put a different color stick for different readings, dime, quarter, etc. then go back and do all his digging at one time. I thought that was pretty interesting.
