Interstate Exit Hopping with the 70

Well, I took my new 2001 chevy prism detecting vehicle on a business trip to ATL, and made it home with it!...I believe it was a prototype built with some sort of 2 cycle engine since it burns a quart of oil per 8 gal gas, giving it a 32:1 mix ratio? Funny thing is, a guy dont have to mix the oil with the gas, the car seems to do it automatically, like those fancy 2 cycle bass boat motors systems...seems to be a pretty neat design!, a fellow will never need to change the oil, just add quart per 8 gal fill-up!....

I got in 3 hunts, all of them off exits in IN, KY, TN... very short early morning hunts at sports parks close to random exits..a guy just whips off and asks a local, " Where the ballfield at"?.

I will say that danged old hard clay/chert amalgam makes for some tough dirt work! I stabbed all of these, I dont see how a guy could ever even attempt to use a trowel in dry clay? Dirt is like some sort of concrete and a guy has to keep stabbing and chip away at it like at an ice block,.
.140 coins for 16.56, a 58 wheat in the mix...running the 70 with 40-50 sens and general purpose comfortable settings, never once ground balanced, or pinpointed...

Exit hopping can make for a great roadtrip someday...especially if a guy was not in a hurry...some of those little towns were pretty old....

Glad you enjoyed your trip .........I am going to a sick relatives in a few and plan on detecting some while on the way.......... visit him a while..and detect some more on the way back...

Wow that was some trip. Nice collection of coins. With all those coins you can probably buy a few quarts of oil?? My first new car was a 1966 Saab mixed the oil with the gas. Paid $1800 for it, new. I never had an oil change in 116,000 miles. Got 40 MPG on the highway. Made it over Donners pass at a blazing 35 MPH.
Great detecting Mud. Drive careful out there. Happy Trails.....Z

Mud, glad your trip was a safe one. to bad about the prototype oil consumptor:)

Good luck on your trip Elton! Do us a write up when you get back!:please:
Yeah Zeek, 1800 miles in 3 days! This little car is perfect for a detecting vehicle...in fact I charged right up Mont Eagle outside of Chattanooga at full bore, then going down the other side, I pushed on the Air conditioner button, which also doubles as some sort of "jake brake" and it coasted all the way down the other side at a comfortable 60 mph without me ever once tapping the foot brakes! If its deployed on a straight away, it has the same effect as a parachute behind a dragster!. So I decided to see if I could drive all the way home by using the air conditioner button as a decelerator device, pretty sweet design here too!

Your Car!
Over the years I've had a few cars that used a little oil, I even had two new cars that consumed a little more than they should have.
In more than one of my cars I was able to change brands of oil and that made a big difference in both. Both were using a little over a quart in 1500, I was using Valvoline at the time, I had been getting good results out of it in the cars before that so I changed to Havoline and it reduce the oil consumption to oil change to oil change without have to add any oil. (But I do change my on oil, some cars are really easy to change, others are a different story) Pennzoil is another oil that I've had oil consumption problems with, it may lubricate fine in any car, but some of the bit older cars it can disappear sometimes.

That's a pretty nice pile of coins I must say!
