Interference from other detectors is a problem on a competition hunt

What is the "secret" to setting up the MXT to reduce the crosstalk interference from other nearby MDers? I was at a club sponsored beach hut today and was having a hard time hearing anything other that the "buzz" of interference from other MXT's and Garrets and Minelabs that were within 20 feet of me. Is there any way to tune that out or reduce it?

Some White's and other detectors have frequency adjustments but not the MXT. I doubt there is anything you can do to alleviate the problem other than keeping your distance. Mike

Thats what I did today, as best I could, but I found out that couple of other MXT'ers with lots of finds today had the gain down around 6 and they said that helped. I don't think there is any tune that would help when a Minelab X70 or SE gets near! (Not to mention the 1 PI machine that was on the field, sheash)

When in a club or competition hunt With allot of people and boundaries I use my IDX Pro. It has some adjustment between 6.35khz and 6.55khz. Rarely have any interference.

There's no secret. Sorry, but you'll just have to move faster and once you hear the competitor's machine humming at you....MOVE! I've found there's not a lot of machines that make mine whine, but there are a few. MOVE MOVE MOVE....that's all the advice I can give. Good luck!

I heard that PI machines were not allowed in group hunts, is that right? Dennis in Idaho

Our club only limited participants to the size of the coil. Maybe we should talk about restricting the use of PI machines as well. Thanks for the food for thought.

I am not trying to stir anything up, it just that I heard that a group hunt in Daytona beach this year had outlawed them for what ever reason.

It's cool man, but after Saturday I can see why if crosstalk is the reason. As for any other advantage they may have, I'm too new to know about that! :wiggle::super:
