Interesting X50 behavior today, ala' hot rocks.

I was freshwater wading, GB @ 3, Sens @ 16, HF concentric 9 inch coil. The bottom was a light gray clay/sand mix. I was hitting some iron patches so switched to All Metal.

I recvd a weak double blip, similar to a pull tab response with an ID of 45 and a weak pinpoint. I switched to pattern 1 where -9, -6, and -3 are rejected(all others accepted), the target no longer responded audio or display wise. Hmmmmm??? I felt around on the bottom with my water shoe and came up against a partially covered rock. I dislodged it with my foot and moved it out of the way. Target was now gone in Pattern 1 & AM mode. Passed coil over moved rock and it responded.

So I reached down and picked up a rock about the size of my fist. Waved it in front of the coil and ID'd 45 in AM and nothing in Pattern 1, just like in the water. But it would NOT pinpoint in the air, put rock back into the water and it would once again pinpoint.

So even with 45 accepted in disc mode, a hot rock squawking 45 in AM no longer responds. Your results may vary, but those hunting in AM who are having hot rocks bother with an ID of 45 should try Disc mode.
