Interesting Story

Ron from Michigan

One of the guys at work is a retired Navy Seal Mike who is trying to get me into diving to take advantage of the lakes here in Michigan.I mentioned to Mike that I have corresponded with Royal on this forum Mike said Royal is a legend and everyone has a lot of respect for the guy.Mike explained that the shipwrecks in the great lakes are protected and no artifacts could be removed and could result in a very stiff penalty the feds would consider this a form of grave robbing. The smaller lakes were a different story almost everything could be salvaged.Mike said during prohibition that Lake ST. Clair would freeze over and a lot of the bootlegger's would make a run from Canada to the U.S. and that there are a lot of old cars at the bottom of the lake with their shipment of booze still intact. He also said he found a whole case of booze in an old jalopy that he sold to a collector. The most interesting part of the story. The Bridge at Port Huron MI to Sarnia Canada is where he has made his best finds.Mike explained they had a anchor line on account of the river current only experience diver's attempt this.Contraband from traveler's was thrown into the ST Clair river at the last minute to avoid problems with the border patrol at the crossing station.Diver's have found a lot of firearms underneath the bridge.I use to travel a lot between Detroit and Windor and never once had a firearm in my car,but with a traveler facing a stiff legal penalty leads me to beleive this story may be true.
